Day 29 & 30 – Old Memories

18/02/’17 – 19/02/’17

Its Saturday. I just spent the last week at home again. Today, however, I am heading for Botswana. But I’m planning on arriving there on Monday. I will spend the weekend taking on the long journey there. Tonight, I’m sleeping in Marble Hall. I’ve made this trip a couple of times already. I can do it with my eyes closed by now. From Ermelo to Middelburg, I get a ride that costs me R50. I hate it when people try to milk you for every cent you have. In Middelburg, I get picked up by the most pleasant people. They give me a drink and offer me some of their food. That really means a lot to me. It’s not very often that you come across people like this. They are going through Marble Hall so I am lucky enough to spend the rest of my journey with them.

We chat the entire time. And I get regaled with old army stories and tall travel tales. I love it. They also offer to host me whenever I come to Middelburg again. Wonderful people! After another 2 hours. I find myself on the Unhonka Game Farm. This is where I will spend the rest of my weekend. On the way here, we stop next to road to pick up Maroelas, snacks for the rest of the weekend! I enjoy the evening next to a fire in the middle of the bush with an ice cold beer. What a way to end a hectic day on the road.

Today is Sunday. We start our day by feeding the animals, doing a routine drive around the farm and then chill out for the rest of the day . Not much to tell really. I also learn to sew today. This is fantastic because I have a tendency to tear my clothes up while I travel.
Tomorrow, I will make my way all the way to Mahalapye, Botswana. I already have a Couchsurfing host lined up there.

Good night!
